I am a silicon valley parent very passionate about helping kids become innovators and problem solvers and empower them with all tools and knowledge to solve challenging problems we are facing day to day. I have been volunteering in Cupertino, CA schools for the last 10 years to encourage math and programming and also awarded volunteering appreciation awards. In order to create a larger impact to build the next generation of innovators I came up with this idea of coming up with a platform to make problem solving a habit. I believe in pitching the knowledge and ideas to the kids constantly and at a consumable pace so they can naturally like working with technology. It is very important to expose the basic fundamentals of technology instead of sudden exposure to technology in high school and college. College admissions have changed over time and in order to get into top STEM colleges it is not only important to excel in high school but also demonstrate the ability to innovate and solve problems by collaborating with others. Kids interested in taking up technology jobs need to be aware that the tech industry wants ready-made talent and does not invest enough in training new talent. This makes it essential to expose kids to technology programs early to experience what parts of the technology they have a natural affinity to specialize in. Learning technology paired with a mentor with lots of technology experience is very impactful.
